About Community Connections
Community Connections is a not for profit organisation working in Monmouthshire. It is a Bridges Centre project.
The project was established in November 2011 funded by the BIG Lottery, through the AdvantAGE stream. This grant was for 5 years and we have been lucky enough to secure a further 2 years funding through the People and Places, Big Lottery Grant. This funding has employed a team of four full-time project staff who enable local volunteers to befriend others. Volunteers provide company and assistance to people who feel isolated to avoid loneliness and depression. The project aims to work with beneficiaries and volunteers across the county of Monmouthshire and improve their access to local facilities and social activities.
Community Connections has a central office which is based above the Bridges Community Shop, located in the Monmouth, High Street. The project has a steering group made up of representatives from Monmouthshire County Council (MCC), Aneurin Bevan Health Board (ABHB), Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO), Monmouthshire Housing Association, Care and Repair, Bridges Centre and volunteer representatives.
